Herman Miller Inc. is buying Hong Kong office furniture maker POSH Office Systems Ltd. for an undisclosed amount in order to gain access to the Chinese market and broaden its geographic reach.

Herman Miller have made an clever purchase to expand across to the far east by buying this Hong Kong manufacturer. Aside from office furniture, POSH makes and distributes freestanding furniture, seating, and filing and storage systems, similar to the Herman Miller - so it will be interesting to see if they keep it running the sale, or streamline and combine the 2 companies over time.

I have just come across this article and although the Chinese New Year is now over, it is always interesting to see how companies deal with Chinese manufacturers that will shut down over this period, often for between 1 and 2 weeks.

Over the years we have learnt to plan ahead to stop our usually regular orders from disappearing over this period, which means over ordering for the period well before the shut down to enable it to leave the country before it grinds to a halt for the festivities.

New Year, and Table Legs

Hello!

this is the first blog of 2010, and the year is well in motion with lots of things happening in the Eurofit offices.

The new year means, stock audits, magazine adverts, and in the coming month or so we are hoping to launch a new 'eurofit' ecommerce website to list all our products in one place, and enable our customers (old and new) to be able to buy our products with ease and convinience. Whilst that is being put together I thought it would be nice to havea look at what seems to be our most popular products at the start of the year, table legs.

We offer a selection of table legs at eurofit, with 3 main types, and then a selection of heights and colours.

First up, we have the most popular type, which is the 60mm diameter round legs. These are offered in sets of 4 in 690mm, 710mm, 870mm and 1100mm heights. The most common height is the 690mm height, but the other options are often used in the kitchen or office industry for a variety of furniture products.

Each of these height options can be offered in Black, Dark Grey, Graphite Grey, Light Grey, Chrome, Silver, White and Brushed Nickel.

Next up is the 80mm diameter alternative legs, they are identical to the legs above, but with a thicker leg. They are available in 350mm, the standard 690mm, and 710mm heights and can be supplied in the same finishes as the 60mm legs.

The alternative to the round legs shown above, are the designer conical legs.

These are available in a 410mm and 690mm height and in Silver and Grey finish.

The Euro-Fit Christmas tree is the newest edition to the team here at the offices. It officially confirms that we are getting closer and closer to the Holiday shutdowns - which for the record is December 18th - 4th Jan 2010 for those who are interested.

This week I am going to look at our popular folding frames. We stock a wide range of options with the folding frames.

First up is the curved legged frames. These are 690mm in height and come in 4 different finishes; silver, black, chrome and graphite grey. The robust legs fold flat so your table can be stacked and stored with ease which makes them ideal for schools or offices.

Next up we have the straight legged option. This folding frame system again comes complete with all parts, ready to attach to any table top. The straight legged option offers a designer style to the frame, often more popular in the exectutive office industry. It is available in 2 heights and a selection of 4 colours.

2 New Table Bases added to the range

In the last edition of OFAS magazine, I advertised 2 new Euro-Fit Table Bases to the range. Today I am going to show you them as they have been very popular choices.

The first is the Bayside, or the Bistro
base. It was introduced on request from one of our customers as a simple
bistro/cafe base at a good price. Since then it has become so popular with other
customers we have added into the Table Base range as the Bayside base. As you
may or may not be aware we have named all of our Table Bases after bridges of
stature from around the World. The Bayside bridge crosses Tampa Bay in Florida,
USA. It was named the Bayside due to its simple but effective style and
use.

The second Table Base is the Sutong. Again named after a Bridge, this time the Sutong
Bridge that spans the Yangtze River in China. It is the Longest spanning
cable-stay Bridge in the World. And its stature fits nicely with the
position the Bridge takes in our Table Base range.
